Stone Statues

John Dolan Russell: "On an existential level this is one of my favorites. Miller got to play with some midi toys and his mix is brilliant. Art did one of my favorite things he does by conjuring the soul, and this is the only spoken word piece we've ever done. Comfort zone was pushed here, and it's the turning point of the CD where we begin to shift from dark to light...except one last thing."

Still be those eyes which cannot see
Quiet the mouths no longer to speak
Cold go the arms draped to the side
Dark goes the room once full of light
Premature the trees lose the leaves
Immature the longing for reprieve
Sleet comes mid summer and stings
Eyes frozen shut with copper rings
Still be the limbs no longer embrace
Frozen in time the rouge of a face
Whirling in windswept tunnels the leaf
Holding for nothing to give it relief
Caught in the storm conjured up in the mind
Waiting a day a year decades of time
Sauntering swearing it’s no fault of mine
Pick up the sharp glass draw blood from the Rhine
The map pixilated to the uneducated
The way sleight of hand the wind is sedated
Blood drips down the cheek awash in the torrent
Blood drips quicker and spots to the floor
Mixed with an agent which bound us together
Blood runs down the leg savored with flavor
Marinating together the toxic concoction
Still be those lips so they don’t quite offend
Choked in the throat where the words never form
Flying on waxen wings to seek out the sun
Drenched in the lovely eyes of adorers
Staying power, perhaps the leaf the explorer
Stone statue awaits in ruminations state
Stone statue with purpose and power and fate
The wolf howls lonely to the moonlit sky
Turns to stone looking back at the sweet firefly
On the lap of the statue the wolf rests his head
His shackles his fur his legs all feel lead
His face sad and beautiful on the stone lap
He waits for the nourishment, the sweetness of sap
The leaf torrential tunnels and floats
From one to another and back to the slope
Stone statues are cold with melancholy stares
The wolf whines and nuzzles and waits to forget.
