Introduction.

Hello. I'm John Dolan Russell, lead singer and rhythm guitar player for Bombasticide My band mates, Art Bromage, Ian Miller, Dave Delzotto and Carl Martin along with producer Marc Miller and I are extremely proud to bring you our new full length CD SCRATCH. Without being a concept album, this is a concept album. It was recorded from early July '07 through mid October '07 and in my opinion, our best work to date. This page is where all the lyrics on the CD appear. Before each song there is a blurb about the tune from one of the band members. These may change from time to time, and there's a cool little picture that corresponds with the song, followed by the lyrics. You can hear most of the tunes at our Myspace or on our home page. All songs are copyright 2008 John Dolan Russell except for 'Battle Flag', 'Born too Slow' and 'Purgatory', which are all used by permission in accordance with the law.
So turn it up. The actual CD will be available the week of December 10 and we're treating 2008 as a constant CD release party. Thanks everyone, enjoy the words and the music, and the presentation.
Oh, and originally I didn't include this because it's an instrumental, and that's totally my bad, sorry Ian. So, Beautiful Disaster was written by Ian Miller and Art Bromage and Ian wanted to say, "I wrote this bitch!"
Thank you. Thank you very much...

Baby Girl

Marc Miller, Producer: "When I first heard this song, I was reminded at once of The Ramones, The Pretenders, Blondie and The Beatles. Angry, wry, witty, vehement- it was all there. My aim was to expose that through use of overdriven clean guitars and a popping snare."

Yeah baby knows I'm fragile you promised not to hurt me
So what if you're agile you make me wanna scream
You are a destroyer still I'm not sorry you hurt me
Your love in a bottle, pretty boys, too much competition

Yeah.

Yeah baby sociopath I'm so glad you crossed my path
And now you're on your path I pray you meet your match
You said we were sanctioned by the stars and you ignored them
Your lust for everything you see such a fucking disease

Yeah

Since you began with lies
A fitting end
Almost the end of my life

Yeah.

Scratch

John Dolan Russell: "Yes this is a sarcastic tune about the perils of falling too deep in love with the wrong person. And for the record, we're all big fans of lesbians. Our first dance tune on the CD."

The lesbian at the suicide clinic
Said that alki's shouldn't have sex for one whole year
The other one who kept calling me back again
Making sure I didn't swallow any more pills

And gettin' over you was really such a drag
But I'm really, really, really, really glad
'Cause I got this new thing
She treats me much, much, much, much better than you

My state of mind is a fractal picto
So much cleaner and clear and full of truth
All you ever did was hurt me with your head
That's your claim to fame 'cause you'll never be Mom of the year

And gettin' over you was really such a drag
And I'm really, really, really, very quite glad
All you ever did was poison up my head
No co dependence here she's just better than you
And gettin' on with me the best way to be
But I really sometimes miss that phantom of you
I got this pretty new thing
She don't hurt me no, no, no, no
She love me long time

Go Home

Marc Miller: "OK. So I love Zeppelin. And, yeah, it sounds like "When The Levee Breaks"- but there's a double edged sword here- Zep's tune talks about when the levee breaks, there'll be no place to say. John's version is more like, "When the levee breaks, have a nice swim......beeyotch.....". How can you not love that? The drum part just SCREAMED for that treatment, and Dave Del Bonzo more than delivered. Art's solo needed to be that bitchin' and moanin' bluesy thing that no one does better- so my task was to merely get out of the way and let that happen."

Lady that magic coach is gonna turn into a pumpkin
Girl your wings will melt when you get too close to the sun
Ring will lose it's shine from the coal in your black heart
Whiskey and the wine will poison tearing you apart

Go home baby go home
We don't need you here
They need you there
Go home

Darlin' this free for all's gonna find you in some danger
Woman you're a woman with the meanest streak I've seen
Doctor pull the rug from you your story's not the same girl
Your star is burning through the sky you're fadin' from the world

Go home baby go home
We don't need you here
They need you there
Go home

Get yourself a home
Darling just go home

I am simply free of you and I should be so grateful
But you left a stink on me I can't seem to wash off
You became my everything and taught me such a lesson
I barricade my heart from anyone who tries inside

Go home baby go home
We don't need you here
They need you there
Go home...

Battle Flag

John Dolan Russell: "Oh yeah! The first cover on the CD is by Lo-Fidelity All Stars. This was a groovy techno club hit 10 years ago, radio couldn't play it enough, well, the edited version. We've chosen not to edit. So if the word motherfucker isn't cool with you, skip to the next track. Marc Miller gets all the credit for pushing the envelope on this one. Some of his finest work as a producer."

Your construction
Smells of corruption
I manipulate to recreate
This air to ground saga
Gotta launder my karma

I said hallelujah to the sixteen loyal fans
You'll get down on your muthafuckin' knees
And it's time for your sickness again
Come on and tell me what you need
Tell me what is making you bleed
We got two more minutes and
We gonna cut to what you need
So one of six so tell me
One do you want to live
And one of seven tell me
Is it time for your muthafuckin' ass to give
Tell me is it time to get down on your muthafuckin' knees
Tell me is it time to get down

I'm blown to the maxim
Two hemispheres battlin'
I'm blown to the maxim
Two hemispheres battlin'
Suckin' up, one last breath
Take a drag off of death

Hey Mr. Policeman
Is it time for getting away
Is it time for driving down the mother fuckin' road
And running from your ass today

Now tell me if do you agree
Or tell me if I'm makin' you bleed
I got a few more minutes and
I'm gonna out to what you need
So one of six so tell me
One do you want to live
And one of seven tell me
Is it time for your muthafuckin' ass to give
Tell me is it time to get down on your muthafuckin' knees
Tell me is it time to get down

Got a revolution behind my eyes
We got to get up and organize
Got a revolution behind my eyes
We got to get up and organize
Got a revolution behind my eyes
We got to get up and organize
You want a revolution behind your eyes
We got to get up and organize

Come on baby tell me
Yes we aim to please

My House Fell Down

John Dolan Russell: "I was almost embarrassed to bring this song up in it's original format. It was way outside the box for us. After Dave had finished recording "Go Home" I told him to stay in the room and 'give me a beat like this', he wasn't pleased afterward and came close to demanding we didn't use it. But it's perfect really. This is one of Marc's favorites and a great little surprise for us, making it's way into the live set right away."

Well my house fell down so I built me a new one
Made out of bricks not made out of sticks
Well my house fell down and the wolf couldn't help me
She got other plans she got other things
She got other things and she got other things
She got other things like the trees with their rings
My house fell down and I don't even care
Moving down the road stop point at me and stare...

Well my heart broke down so I stole me another
Made out of steel and kind of unreal
Well my heart broke down she kept the souvenir
She took it to eat she kept it with things
She kept it from me and she ate it with peas
She ate it with peas like a delicacy
Well my house fell down and I don't really care
Moving down the road stop point at me and stare

Well my house fell down and my piggies they helped me
Step by step baby brick by brick
Well my house fell down and she blew it away
Without a second thought for me she got other things
She got other houses she got other spouses
She got other things and she got all the things
Blowing down homes for trinkets and rings
I gave her my heart she ate it down like a meal
Said that it hurt
How you hurt when you don't feel?

Whatever

Marc Miller: "This one was personal. John exercising more demons, this time in the form of an old "friend" who comes to visit. His old mode was dread, and his old reaction was to go underground- now, it's "Screw you- bring it- suck it- whatever" and this tune said that loud and proud. This one took quite a bit of rearrangement to make work, and I fought with John all the way down to the bitter end on how it was gonna come out, but the end result is one of power and thought. I really think that this one is the sleeper hit, lyrically, of the whole album."

Hello my old friend so you're here again
I've got no love now so come on in come on in
Hello my old friend feels bad to see you again
But I got no love now so come on in come on in

Sit with me awhile and take away my smile
Lay with me upon the couch you've come so many miles
Keep me in this room full of misery and doom
Hold my head down under water skin my dreams alive

Whatever break my back and tighten up the slack
Turn everything around me black
Whatever feed me lies so I can despise
Everyone around me friend
Ah Huh ah ha whatever

Hello my old shadow come into my meadow
Invite only but you're part of me c'mon c'mon
Hello there old man you've such gigantic hands
They make it hard to break away I'll stay I stay
Crush my battered soul take it down below
I know I know you'll leave again I know I know
Hold me under foot your victory's my rut
Kick the stand out from my feet I'll dangle here again

Whatever rape my mind vicious visions unkind
Tie me up in knots I'm blind
Whatever tear at my hear try to pull it apart
Always stronger when you leave again
Ah huh ah ha whatever

You old bastard creeping faster I have my half life to live
I'll run around your house and smash the windows one by one
You old bastard I learn faster I smile through the cellophane
You wrap up around my face to suffocate me once again
Get out you old bastard better make it faster
Go choke on the disaster of someone else's day
You'll be back I know it leave me alone for now I show it
I'll leave a light on for you bastard. BASTARD!

Whatever!

Stone Statues

John Dolan Russell: "On an existential level this is one of my favorites. Miller got to play with some midi toys and his mix is brilliant. Art did one of my favorite things he does by conjuring the soul, and this is the only spoken word piece we've ever done. Comfort zone was pushed here, and it's the turning point of the CD where we begin to shift from dark to light...except one last thing."

Still be those eyes which cannot see
Quiet the mouths no longer to speak
Cold go the arms draped to the side
Dark goes the room once full of light
Premature the trees lose the leaves
Immature the longing for reprieve
Sleet comes mid summer and stings
Eyes frozen shut with copper rings
Still be the limbs no longer embrace
Frozen in time the rouge of a face
Whirling in windswept tunnels the leaf
Holding for nothing to give it relief
Caught in the storm conjured up in the mind
Waiting a day a year decades of time
Sauntering swearing it’s no fault of mine
Pick up the sharp glass draw blood from the Rhine
The map pixilated to the uneducated
The way sleight of hand the wind is sedated
Blood drips down the cheek awash in the torrent
Blood drips quicker and spots to the floor
Mixed with an agent which bound us together
Blood runs down the leg savored with flavor
Marinating together the toxic concoction
Still be those lips so they don’t quite offend
Choked in the throat where the words never form
Flying on waxen wings to seek out the sun
Drenched in the lovely eyes of adorers
Staying power, perhaps the leaf the explorer
Stone statue awaits in ruminations state
Stone statue with purpose and power and fate
The wolf howls lonely to the moonlit sky
Turns to stone looking back at the sweet firefly
On the lap of the statue the wolf rests his head
His shackles his fur his legs all feel lead
His face sad and beautiful on the stone lap
He waits for the nourishment, the sweetness of sap
The leaf torrential tunnels and floats
From one to another and back to the slope
Stone statues are cold with melancholy stares
The wolf whines and nuzzles and waits to forget.

Born too Slow.

Art Bromage: "A hard rock soul, trapped in an electronic body (until we got our hands on it)."

Just like seventies goof balls
He's waiting on last calls
well listen to method man
'cause if you leave on the last line
Don't leave on the ground kind
Born just a little too slow
Just a little too slow
Just a little too
Oh, your lives are more than two
Just a little too
Oh, just a little too
'cause if ya picture the wrong kind
You'll know you'll be turnin' blind
Got outta your head
Bangin' tail just the wrong way
You'll know that a turnin' grey
I'm just a little too slow
Oh, your lives are more than two
slow
Oh, your lives are more than two
Just a little too
Just a little too
Your lives are more than two
Just a little too
Oh, your your life's a born in two
Just a little too slow
'cause if you leave on the last line
Don't leave on the ground kind
Well listen to method man
Cause if you leave him callin'
You'll know you'll be fallin'
Lights are bummin' low
Your shot off and bum and go
Lives are bummin' low
Your shot off and bum and go
Born just a little too

Dynamo

John Dolan Russell: "Another Juanita Beach composition. I spent a lot of time there over the summer regaining myself. After writing so many raging tunes and picking out the 3 covers I knew that we needed some lighter material, some dance music if you will."

Marc Miller: "WTF? JDR writes a dance tune? You're kidding, right? Nope- that's what it is. This one was a fight- I won't kid ya- mainly from the standpoint of what the hell is Ian gonna do with this? It's blues changes!!! So, I tell him, "play Sly and The Family Stone" and we get this pseudo "ThankYouFaLettinMeBeMiceElf" feel. All it needs now is some random clean guitar, ala John Frusciante, and we got it. I really like the loose feel of this one."

Sunshine in the park ain't no clouds today
Even though she hates me
There's another one looking at me yeah
Funny how love grows and goes
Just as quickly as it came
But on a day like this there ain't no clouds today

I'm a big magnetic dynamo
With a smile dancing to and fro
I'm a big fat happy dance machine
And I love those girlies oh so clean

Sunshine off the lake finally prowlin on the make
The birds are singin' to me
Ah givin' sweet songs that I take
Funny how love dies right before your very eyes
One thing about gettin' older's you girls keep gettin' younger
(younger sweeter with attention spans of cats)

I'm a big magnetic dynamo...

Under the Same Stars

John Dolan Russell: "We all agree this is a favorite. Both in the studio and live. I wrote the lyrics at Juanita Beach on a bright and sunny day, I was in a good mood but there was a lingering sadness in me. Marc was key in bringing this song together and Art's guitar work is some of the best he's ever recorded."

We float on the ocean we fly on the breeze
Untethered together in times such as these
We're wrapped up awhile in skin with a smile
And broken beneath the pressure from miles
I tried to be useful you tried to be true
The smoke in the mirrors reflect me to you
Under the same stars breathing the same air
Our house burning down neither one of us there

We try the new lovers get under the covers
Slipping away from the cruel words above us
The children are laughing forget what they're lacking
The animals purring and slithering nourished
I sit in the sun soaking park looking for you
Your desk and the rest of your pride still surrounds you
Under the same stars and breathing the same air
Our lives upside down can we fondly remember?

We climb in the mountains we bathe in the fountains
Another world waiting embracing and counting
The strangers we seek just to find one another
The lovers we take and hide under the covers
I tried to be useful you tried to be me
The shadow won out with a monstrosity
Under the same moon our wolves are both walking
Longing for days of our laughter and talking

We sit in the old chairs we try on the new stares
Our pride is the guidance which weakens our pair
The childhood lost and forgotten the ground
The common misshaping we'd never have found
I long for the moment when you were so real
You slipped through my fingers and dug in a heel
Under the same stars eroded by rain
Down in the bone yard I'll see you again

Purgatory

Dave Del Zotto, Drums: "Without a doubt the Maiden tune Purgatory was the most challenging track on the CD stylistically and spiritually. I skipped purification of the soul and went straight to Hell on that one. Having never rehearsed the tune live or played a blast beat at that tempo before the guys cheered me on as I finally ‘burned’ through it on the third take. Hades never felt so good. Burn baby, Burn!"

Thinking of an age old dream, places I have never seen,
Fantasies lived times before.
I split my brain, melt through the floor.

Over clouds my mind will fly, forever now I can't think why.
My body tries to leave my soul.
Or is it me, I just don't know.
Mem'ries rising from the past, the future's shaddow overcast.
Something's clutching at my head, through the darkness I'll be led.

Oh another time, another place.
Oh another smile on another face.
When you see me floating up beside you,
You get the feeling that all my love's inside of you.

Please take me away, take me away, so far away.
Please take me away, take me away, so far away.
Please take me away, take me away, so far away.

Thinking of an age old dream, places I have never seen,
Fantasies lived times before.
I split my brain, melt through the floor.

Over clouds my mind will fly, forever now I can't think why.
My body tries to leave my soul.
Or is it me, I just don't know.
Mem'ries rising from the past, the future's shadow overcast.
Something's clutching at my head, through the darkness I'll be led.

Oh another time, another place.
Oh another smile on another face.
When you see me walking up beside you,
You get the feeling that all my love's inside of you.

Please take me away, take me away, so far away.
Please take me away, take me away, so far away.
Please take me away, take me away, so far away.

Meadow

John Dolan Russell: "Born from meditation this place came into focus. It is my refuge and all loved ones are welcome there, and they often visit. The animals guard the perimeter, keeping enemies at bay. My strength comes from here, my loved ones, my closest, my imagination."

All my friends and I are gathered in this place
Grass is under foot and sunshine's warm embrace
With the puma and the wolf the spiders and snakes
Guarding our good times and trying times in spades

There is nothing that I need
'cept your angel arms on me
There is nothing I desire
Inside me burns your fire

All my friends and I have been together longer than the world
Out of frozen fire thawed out I built us this meadow
And it's safe in here most times a peaceful runnin' stream
Under the willow tree you'll find me a perpetual green dream

There is nothing that I need
'cept your warm and glowing face
There is nothing I desire
'cause your love just takes me higher
There is no where I can run
Where I'd better see the sun
There is no place I can hide
Where you couldn't come inside

I built this place of safety hoping it would save me
I built this place of comfort to satiate my hunger
I built this place to hideout protected from the fallout
I built this place to sanctify so come on in my friend
Come on in my trusted friend

My friends and I we dance around the giant willow tree is sound
And you can come in with a heart that's pure and bright and full of love
